Barrio del Tango San Jose del Cabo Restaurant Review

In the heart of San Jose del Cabo's residential area, Barrio del Tango offers an open-air dining experience that's both unassuming and inviting. On a Saturday night in January, without any reservations, we landed the last available table in this outdoor Argentine spot, surrounded by walls but open to the sky, a setup perfect for Cabo's dry climate.

The first thing you notice is the enticing aroma of meat grilling as soon as you approach the block the restaurant is on, setting the tone for a promising meal. The place is simple, with a focus on good food and a relaxed atmosphere. It feels like a local secret, where the absence of a formal building makes for an informal, welcoming vibe.

Service here strikes a nice balance—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The staff were eager to share their recommendations and quick to get us anything we asked for.

We started with Humita and Neapolita empanadas, both of which were a hit for their flavor and freshness. For the main course, the Entrana and Vacio Argentino steaks were not only huge but also delicious, served with a simple, fresh salad on the side. We paired our meal with Don Luis wine, which was a pleasant accompaniment to the rich flavors of our dinner.

Despite the tempting desserts, we were too full to consider them, choosing instead to enjoy the ambiance a bit longer. The live music added to the atmosphere, and the visible kitchen and grill area was a nice touch, making the meal feel more interactive.

Barrio del Tango is a refreshing break from the more tourist-centric spots in Cabo. It offers good value, especially considering the size and quality of the steak dishes. The open-air setup, combined with the great food and casual vibe, makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy a laid-back evening under the stars.

Overall, our experience at Barrio del Tango was highly positive, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, fuss-free dining experience in Cabo. The combination of good food, reasonable prices, and an enjoyable outdoor setting makes it a place worth returning to.
